St George’s Day ride – 23 April

St George’s Day, and what better place to go for a sunny Sunday ride than the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewes in Staffordshire.

Sue and Mark, Whitey, Vic, Adrian, Ron, Mike and run leader Brian left The George for a very pleasant ride through the countryside with the sun showing through and the roads pretty quiet for a Sunday. Unfortunately Ron had to abandon the ride due to a problem on his bike about half way there and head back for home. Once arrived at the Arboretum we found the car park to be pretty full and had to squeeze together in a corner to park up.

A quick cuppa and a bite followed by a walk around the park and as luck would have it, there was a classic car show on to add to the day, lots of beautifully kept motors from bygone days lined up brought back a fair few memories of our own early motoring and of that of our parents and grandparents.

We met up again to ride home after a few hours, again, a good ride back, unfortunately we did get split up along the way home, never mind, pretty sure we all enjoyed the day out and look forward to the next sunny Sunday rideout.
