New Years Day Ride
1st January 2007
It was another chilly day, well it is January, but we where determined to enjoy our first ride of the year.
When we got to our usual watering-hole, The Two Boats Inn in Long Itchington, we where met by Sue, Penfold and Rob, who'd come by car. Unfortunately the new landlord insisted that they had never done food.
So after a swift half we all set off home, refreshed but hungry. On the way home, Ruth and I decided to stop at the Kings Head in Napton on the Hill for lunch.
Just after we'd ordered, the familiar thrum of bike engines heralded the others, who had had the same idea.
The food was very good and the welcome warm, so I guess that this is going to be next year's venue! |
On the ride were:
Stritchy & Ruth - Pan (run leader)
Brian (Fancy) - ST13
Mark (2 strokes) - Kwak
George (Musky) - ST13

Quiz & Chips Night
Wednesday 21st February 2007
Cambridge Branch joined us for an evening of eating and head scratching. The questions where not too hard, set by Stritchy
and the fish & chips came from a nearby shop in Wellingborough. The 30+ members enjoyed the banter and fun of the quiz, but by half-time were ready for their food - which was delicious.
What a great way to spend an evening! |

First Everyotherrun
Wednesday 11th April 2007
The first Wednesday evening Everyotherrun is traditionally to the Stibbington Diner, on the A1 near the Nene Valley Railway.
The evening was chilly but dry, so 15 bikes set off for a 45 mile bimble north. At Uppingham we took a slight detour back into the town, courtesy of CoPilot and an inability to do as I'm told!
We where met at the diner by Sue and Colin & Anne. A thoroughly unhealthy and delicious fry-up was enjoyed by all.
Warm welcome to Kev, Michael and Bob, who joined us for the first time on a ride-out. |

Scott took 19 bikes on his usual mystery tour around the country roads. After a pleasant evening ride of some 40 miles we arrived at Greystones in Sawtry,
a lovely little pub opposite the local chip shop - which a number of people (who missed their tea!) took advantage of. Prof managed to run into stationary
vehicle as he was leaving Sawtry... as the piss has been well-and-truly taken already, I'll leave it at that.
Warm welcome to Mark, Plum and Tim, who joined us for the first time on a ride-out. |

Wednesday 23rd May 2007
18 bikes set off on a beautiful sunny evening on Radar's run. We went through some gorgeous villages, along fast and windy country roads.
After 50 miles and a fantastic red sunset, we arrived at the pub that Radar had checked out the day before... unfortunately it was closed (they said for decorating
but I reckon they heard we where coming!) so we carried on to the Woolpack in Thrapston.
Warm welcome to Ian and Andrew, who joined us for the first time on a ride-out. |

Wednesday 6th June 2007
The weather had turned a bit cold and dull by 8pm when 19 bikes set off from The Ten O'Clock.
We travelled west through the villages until we turned off onto what looked like a farm track! This narrow, bumpy and gravel strewn track took us through the
picturesque village of Ashby St Ledger, which would have looked lovely on a sunny day. After 50 miles we pulled into the carpark of our old friend, the Two Boats Inn in Little Itchington,
where enjyed a few drinks by the canal.
Warm welcome to Darren, Adrian, Ralph, Steve and Baz & Kim, who joined us for the first time on a ride-out. |

Good run lead by Penfold, nice pace through some lovely villages, ended up at The Angel in Yarwell. When I mentioned that we were not far from Stibbington Skippers eyes lit up

Wednesday 18th July 2007
The weather went against the trend and we had a gorgeously warm, dry evening that culminated in the most lovely red sunset. Now that's what I call biking weather!
Penfold lead us along twisty country lanes and through the north Bedfordshire villages, before heading north to the Montagu Arms in Barwell, near Oundle. It was a cracking 43 mile journey which everyone enjoyed. We first went to this pub in
2004, so it was due a return visit!

Wednesday 1st August 2007
Dan led 26 bikes in total at a nice
sedate pace through many villages circum-navigating Northampton.
Several roads should not have been allowed the privilege of being
called a road.... more like a dirt track. Over some silly little but
great fun bridges, criss-crossed over the M1 numerous times before
running a reasonably straight sensible road to re-group the pack in
order to enter the watering hole together where Sue and Jan were
waiting for us. Sue knew the route Dan had planned so opted to meet
us at our destination.
We ended up at The Quays in Billing and enjoyed a drink overlooking
the water.
We welcome 6 newcomers: Dave (CB1300), Geoff (CBF600), Ian
(CBR600FS), Pete (GL1500) Danny (V-Strom) and John (GL1800).

Charity Show in aid of the Air Ambulance
Monday 27th August 2007
The 2007 Charity Day was a bigger success than even we hoped for! Bikers streamed in from all over the country to attend.
By 3pm we had filled the carpark, garden and road in front of the pub! The barbecue was going great guns, with a queue around the garden all afternoon whilst the hoopla, home-made cakes and massage also did brisk business throughout the day.
The Best/Worst Bike competition, voted for by the visitors, was won by Mark Reeves with his beautiful NS400R, whilst the worst bike (by far) was a CX500 owned by Alan Knight.
The main event was of course the charity auction. Signed items, such as James Toseland's helmet and an authenticated signed picture of Casey Stoner went for huge sums. But all the items where eagerly bid on, raising a massive £2000.
All in all, with the buckets getting filled with loose change as well, the day raised £2,700! This is a third more than last year. The most amazing event of the day was an
anonymous donation of £8,000 meaning that the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance is now a whopping
£10,700 better off.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who worked so hard to make this possible. |

Everyotherrun
Wednesday 29th August 2007
Stritchy's run, surprise surprise, headed south. We weaved through the villages of north Bedfordshire, taking a broad sweep around Olney and riding through Turvey twice {oops}. We finally ended up at the newly refurbished Half Moon pub in Kempston.
Ruth, who was tail-end Charlie for the first time, had told the corner markers to look out for her twin headlights so that they would know when to pull way - unfortunately and unbeknown to her, one of her headlight bulbs went fritz after a few minutes riding, causing much confusion!
But everyone enjoyed the ride nonetheless.
Food had been laid on in the bar (OK it was leftovers from a wake earlier that day!) which was happily devoured by the hungry riders.
A warm welcome goes to Jim (Pan), Danny (Suzuki), Richard & Sue (Varadero), John (Wing) and James ('blade) who joined us for the first time on a ride-out. |

Ashby Folville
Tuesday 11th September 2007
The evening was planned in advance, the fine weather ordered and paid for, (just to make sure it was delivered on time) as indeed it was. Now all we had to do was rendezvous at the 10 o’clock at the agreed time, easy, yeah. So there I was, on time outside the 10,o’clock, in fact a little early, and I waited, and waited, then just like a buses 3 turned up all at once, then another,
Me, that is Dan with eldest son Sam
Phil Barby
Dave
Mark
Ade on Redbird (according to many this is this fastest colour).
So off we go with Phil up front, Dan intended to go up the rear, but was bullied by Dave so Dave was up the rear. Before we knew it we were setting a blistering pace, trying to keep up with Rocket Man, so as to keep up, Dan had to show Mark the art of undertaking. We also managed to get in some practice for riding in France by using the right hand side of the road as much as possible, anyway we managed to arrive safely, good timing to, because shortly after we parked up on the field, the whole place was full up with cars and bikes, great sight. Out came the picnic mats and baskets, and of course a few tinnies. Some of the real workers then turned up
Phil (Penfold)
Kev
After having a good look at everything and chatting to a few like minded folk it was time to depart. Dan, with son on back and Dave in tow made their way homeward at a nice steady pace until PHEEEEEEEEWWWWWW we were passed by a Rocket, or something with warp drive capabilities. Dan thought that he had better check this out, engage warp factor six and after that rocket thingy, stupid, not a chance, it must have been around the other side of the universe. Oh well, couldn’t help, just hope that it managed to unstick the throttle before it landed.

Musky led us through some lovely countryside, well we're pretty sure that it was nice, but the darkness dropped in so quickly we couldn't really tell!
Will and Kirsty arrived for their first EOR just as we where about to leave, so after a very quick explanation of the drop-off system, we where off. He did very well considering it was his first rideout with us - well done mate.
After a 40 mile ride, along wide A roads and narrow C roads, all 21 of us arrived at the Navigation Inn in Stoke Bruerne for a beer and natter - what else could you want on a cool September evening.
We welcome 4 newcomers: Will & Kirsty (Kwak ER5), Terry (1500 Wing), Stuart (CBR1000F) and Russell (CBR600).

Quiz & Chips Night
Wednesday 10th October 2007
For this, the second Quiz & Chips night of the year, we invited Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire Branches to join us. By 8pm there was standing room only in the 10 O'Clock bar!
Ex Branch Secretary Brian was the quizmaster and he set a varied and intriguing host of questions for the teams. Sue, the current Branch Secretary, had organised the food, which was devoured at half time.
Everyone got the food that they ordered and it was absolutely delicious.
Congratulations to Brian and Sue for organising another excellent and entertaining evening. Thanks must also go to Chrystal and her helper who staffed the bar valiantly, keeping everyone supplied with drinks. |

Halloween Party
Wednesday 31st October 2007
Because Halloween fell on a Club night it was decided to celebrate with a party.
Sue, Branch Secretary and resident vampire, and Jan decorated the bar with skeletons, cobwebs and other ghoulish things. The cut out pumpkins also added to the spooky atmosphere. Several members brought along a selection of savoury nibbles and sweets (including white chocolate eyeballs!)
The fancy dress was won by Mark and his outstandingly pneumatic pumpkin costume, although lots of the members dressed for the
occasion and looked superb.
An excellent evening with laughs all round. |

Bowling
Wednesday 12th December 2007
On a very cold night, we all met at The Priory in Wellingborough for a meal and drink, before going to the bowling alley just round the corner.
The 18 Northants & MK members where joined by 6 from the Cambridge Branch. We finally occupied 4 lanes at 9.45pm and got down to some serious fun.
unfortunately the machinery seriously let us down and the spotty youths had to be called on numerous occasions... grrrr. But never mind, we all had a great evening with friends. |
