New Years Day Ride
1st January 2005

We left The Ten O'Clock just after 10am and after a short detour <cough> around Moulton, we headed across country to Long Itchington - the same destination as last year.
The weather was a little chilly and the roads were slightly greasy, but we covered about 46 miles at a sedate pace, enjoying the ride.
Phil had taken his son, Rob, on the ride-out (to try out his new jacket) and when we stopped The Two Boats Inn the poor lad was freezing! Unfortunately we'd got there too early, the pub didn't open until noon and it was only 10 past 11! Sorry guys <hangs head in shame> When finally got in, food was ordered in quick style and we settled down for a chat and a pint. Radar got his ham, egg and chips first, so Wigum had to nick some chips.................. well, what did you expect?
The Two Boats is cracking little pub, with sensibly priced bar food and a nice friendly atmosphere. Next year we'll leave at 11am!

On the ride were:
  Stritchy - Pan (run leader)
  Brian (Radar) - Hornet 9
  Dan - CB750
  Phil & Rob - Hornet 6
  Scott (Deputy Dawg) - FireStorm
  Mark (Chief Wigum) - Pan
HOC on Broadway
Sunday 13th March 2005

The first Sunday run of the year saw the 5 of us meeting in the 10 O'Clock's car park at 10.20am ready for the off. Penfold made a flying visit, but due to family commitments, couldn't come with us.
After a quick test of the intercoms (they worked!) we were off. The morning was bright and chilly, but the roads were dry and the forecast good.
Brian lead us west to the Costwolds. The road past Silverstone was chocka with cars (there was a half marathon going on in preparation for the London event), but we soon filtered through them and onto the nice twisty roads towards the Vale of Evesham. The steep hill and winding road into the vale is quite something, with stunning views - the overrun gravel trap looked dangerous too!
When we got to the picturesque village of Broadway we parked up using 2 spaces and were about to buy(!) two tickets when the attendant suggested we get friendly and only use one. Oh well, it saved a quid!
The local hostelry got the benefit of our hunger. The food was actually very good and the views lovely - well the two foreign girls in the corner were worth looking at <snigger>
The ride home was fast and uneventful. It was great fun 'playing with the traffic' on the M1.

Wednesday 20th April 2005

As is traditional for the first EOR of the year, we went to the Stibbington Diner on the A1. The weather was what you'd expect for April, but the run was excellent. When we got there, Colin & Anne and Roger & Nina where waiting for us. We all tucked into Stibbington's famous fry-ups and thoroughly enjoyed the colesterol infusion.

Sunday Ride to Chatsworth
8th May 2005

The weather forecast was for scattered showers, so we set off in waterproofs. All the way we were shadowed by clouds and rain, but didn't get wet - so the waterproofs trick worked!  :o)
When we arrived, all the cars were being charged for parking on the grass carpark. But the nice attendant directed us to a concrete area by the toilets and wouldn't charge us - result!
Almost as soon as we got off the bikes it started to rain, so we headed to the cafe for a coffee and warmup.
The gardens at Chatsworth are lovely and we spent the afternoon wandering around and paddling in the fountain! We found a lovely arboretum in which to have our picnics and sure enough it started to rain again!
We can thoroughly recommend Chatsworth for the day, even though we didn't have time to go around the house. A cracking day out.

On the ride were:
Brian (Fancy) & Jacqui - ST13 (run leader)
  Stritchy - Pan
John (Skipper) & Jenny - GoldWing

Wednesday 1st June 2005

The roads were a bit damp as Radar led us out of the carpark. He took us on a tortuous route along the twistiest back roads and single-track roads that he could find! It was great fun and a real test of riding skills and suspension. Some 50 miles later we pulled up outside Foxton Locks Inn and enjoyed a pint in the warm evening air. An excellent route and terrific ride.

Sunday ride to Bewdley
Sunday 5th June 2005

Penfold led us on a lovely route through the countryside, avoiding the main roads, 92 miles to Bewdley on the River Severn. Although the day started off cloudy, it gradually got hotter and hotter as we neared our destination.
Bikes park along the Severn and there was a good selection of all sorts there, however, there wasn't enough room for all of us, so we parked around the corner. A quick stroll round the corner took us to a friendly looking pub where we enjoyed the best in pub-grub and a beer in glorious sunshine.
The Severn Valley Railway is based in Bewdley, so we wandered down the road to the station. We were in luck, as two trains steamed in shortly after we arrived. The noises and smells that these things produce has to be seen to be believed. No wonder enthusiasts say that steam engines are alive!
All in all it was a very pleasant day out.

Wednesday 15th June 2005

Dan led us all a merry dance down all the side roads of Northamptonshire on this warm evening. There probably wasn't a single track or barely used road that we didn't ride down! Obviously we wouldn't break the speed limits (honest officer), but we did make very good progress <cough> on the lovely, dry, twisty roads! We covered 62 miles doing figure-of-8s before arriving back at The Ten O'Clock.
Much to everyone's surprise and delight, when we got back to the pub Sue had prepared a huge plateful of rolls for us all to enjoy. A superb run and exactly what the Summer night deserved!

It  was a really hot night that Jeff lead us on the ride from the Ten O'Clock. His 50 mile route took us via lots of twisty back roads, through Thrapston and Raunds, to the pub in Higham Ferrers.
Everyone (except Sue - who doesn't like the really twisty roads!) enjoyed the run. Well done GB.

Wednesday 24th August 2005

Well hello folks I am told that it is customary for the run leader to do a little write up Ok. Well maybe some folks might not like what I write tuff shit. Will we all gathered at the Ten o’clock as per norm apart from those that had a large meal fell asleep and miss another good run, excellent pub with I might add REAL ALE that took a little time to find I might say (ok two seconds). OK, It’s the Honda owners club being lead out by a BMW, follow closely by two Pans (two generations there) a Valkrie (may not spell it that way but it is close enough for me) and two Goldwings another two generations of bike, Total of eight people. We cruised along some fairly good roads, just good enough if you want to have a bit of fun and then on to the narrow lanes, which made up the majority of the run these can prove tricky for those big supper bikes. All is going well, the intercom is working OK the tail bike is close, we have just pulled out of Denton and the intercom voice says “stop Gordy stop Gordy stop”, that is the first time that message has come over the system that I can remember, so I stop and go back, to see a red-faced Danny getting back on his bike with a not too happy Sue preparing to get on. Turns out it was the old problem for those short in the legs. I am not sure if the red face was embarrassment or effort from lifting a Goldwing back on it wheels, you will have to ask Danny about that. Anyway all went well after that apart from the sun setting rather quickly, leaving me to lead the last few miles in the dark. Summer is nearly over again. The pub soon came out of the dark with it welcoming lights and comforting ale, all is well and Sue is in good form. Where the hell are we? Kisslingbury just off the main Northampton Crick road that’s OK then good run.
All the best, Gordon

Humps, Bumps, Gravel, Missing Skipper & Flat Tyre Everyotherrun
Wednesday 7th September 2005

Fifteen bikes set off; this is what you missed if you didn’t join us. We all left the 10 O’clock at 7.30 with Big John as Tail-end -Charlie. We crossed the county taking in the delights of Castle Ashby, Olney, Weston Underwood, Haversham, Wolverton and Stony Stratford, (where Stritch’s eyes popped out). Heading towards Beachampton, we encountered gravel, humps and Foxcote Bumps Manor (via gated road) after this we doubled back towards Stony Stratford so that Stritchy could have another glare at the girls! And then finally heading off for a well earned drink at the Navigation Inn near Cosgrove. This is when three folks decided to depart from the run and Skipper, Len and Adrian got lost, yet waiting at the last junction was ****** who assured us that he had run out of petrol and burnt his indicator bulbs out whilst waiting. Anyway all ended OK when Skipper phoned for guidance. I think everyone enjoyed a drink overlooking the Grand Union Canal. Then all good things must come to an end; except poor old Pete who had a puncture in his rear, times like this that it’s great to be amongst friends. Good old Stritchy to the rescue. Hope every one arrived home OK.
Cheers, George
